Bethany Lutheran Church is hosting a Square Dance Fundraiser for the whole community on Friday, August 22, 6-8pm, at Boone United Methodist Church!
The "Rain or Shine Goodtime Stringband" will provide the live music for the Square Dance, including musicians: Noah Williams, Adam Jarrell, Katie Ferrell, and Jeremy Ferrell, with support from Cecil Gurganus. Callers for the dance will be John Turner and Nancy Mamlin.
There is no set charge, but donations for the fundraiser will be accepted at the door. Pizza will be available at $1/slice while supplies last. Complimentary baked goods and drinks will also be provided.
This Fundraiser will support the Lutheran Services Carolinas New Americans Program. LSC has been involved in the U.S. government's refugee resettlement program for over 40 years. As the national refugee program has been paused, and funding has been significantly decreased, donations will support families already here by providing them with basic needs, housing, English classes, job training, and navigating the legal process here in America. Over 100 Afghans who helped American soldiers and Ukrainian refugees have found a new home in Asheville. Having also been impacted by Hurricane Helene, they need support to continue their efforts and rebuild their journey. Let’s come together to celebrate community, resilience, and the spirit of welcome. Help us ensure that these New Americans have the initial resources they need to thrive.
